25 Halloween Movies to Watch with your Family

Sitting here with my family, one is on Instagram and the other is watching YouTube stories, so much for watching a Halloween movie on Freeform tv binge with the family.  Kids today have so many options for entertainment, that sitting and watching old Halloween movies are far from their interest, although it can be a fun fall activity.  Me, on the other hand, I can watch these classics all day and night.  Here are a few movies that I enjoy watching during the Halloween time of the year.

Halloween Movies to watch:

  • Hocus Pocus (1993) Rated PG – After 300 years, three sister witches are resurrected in on Halloween night, and it is up to two teenagers to get rid of them once and for all.

  • The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) Rated PG – The king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but doesn’t quite understand the concept.

  • Coraline (2009) Rated PG – An adventurous 11-year-old girl finds an alternate universe that is a strange version of her frustrating home, but it has sinister secrets.

  • It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (1966) Rated G – Linus waits for the Great Pumpkin while the Peanuts gang celebrates Halloween.

  • Casper the Friendly Ghost (1995) Rated PG – A paranormal expert and his daughter stay in an abandoned house haunted by three mischievous ghosts and one friendly one.

  • The Addam’s Family (1991) Rated PG-13 – The film focuses on a bizarre, macabre, aristocratic family who reconnect with who they believe to be a long-lost relative, Gomez’s brother, Fester Addams, who is actually the adopted son of a con artist intending to swindle the Addams clan out of their vast wealth and fortune.

  • The Haunted Mansion (2003) Rated PG – A realtor and his wife and children are summoned to a mansion, which they soon discover is haunted, and while they attempt to escape, he learns an important lesson about the family he has neglected.

  • Hotel Transylvania (2012) Rated PG – Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, goes into overprotective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count’s teenaged daughter.

  • Halloween town (1998) Rated TV-G – After learning she is a witch, a girl helps save a town full of other supernatural creatures.

  • Halloween town II (2001) Rated PG – The Cromwell clan split their time between the real world and “Halloween town”, but the son of an old rival threatens to make the latter “real” and the real world a place of monsters.

  • Beetlejuice (1988) Rated PG – A recently-deceased husband and wife commission a bizarre demon to drive an obnoxious family out of their home.

  • Monster’s Inc. (2001) Rated G – In order to power the city, monsters have to scare children so that they scream. However, the children are toxic to the monsters, and after a child gets through, 2 monsters realize things may not be what they think.

  • Corpse Bride (2005) Rated PG – When a shy groom practices his wedding vows in the inadvertent presence of a deceased young woman, she rises from the grave assuming he has married her.

  • Ghostbusters (1984) Rated PG – Three former parapsychology professors set up shop as a unique ghost removal service.

  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001) Rated PG – An orphaned boy enrolls in a school of wizardry, where he learns the truth about himself, his family, and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world.

  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) Rated PG – An ancient prophecy seems to be coming true when a mysterious presence begins stalking the corridors of a school of magic and leaving its victims paralyzed.

  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) Rated PG – It’s Harry’s third year at Hogwarts; not only does he have a new “Defense Against the Dark Arts” teacher, but there is also trouble brewing. Convicted murderer Sirius Black has escaped the Wizards’ Prison and is coming after Harry.

  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) Rated PG-13 – A young wizard finds himself competing in a hazardous tournament between rival schools of magic, but he is distracted by recurring nightmares.

  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) Rated PG-13 – With their warning about Lord Voldemort’s return scoffed at, Harry and Dumbledore are targeted by the Wizard authorities as an authoritarian bureaucrat slowly seizes power at Hogwarts.

  • Harry Potter and the  Half-Blood Prince (2009) Rated PG – As Harry Potter begins his sixth year at Hogwarts, he discovers an old book marked as “the property of the Half-Blood Prince” and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort’s dark past.

  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) Rated PG-13 – As Harry races against time and evil to destroy the Horcruxes, he uncovers the existence of three most powerful objects in the wizarding world: the Deathly Hallows.

  • Teen Wolf (1985) Rated PG – An ordinary high school student discovers that his family has an unusual pedigree when he finds himself turning into a werewolf.

  • Don’t Look Under the Bed (1999) Rated PG – A teen enlists the help of an imaginary friend named Larry Houdini to deal with a prank-playing bogeyman, who’s framing her for his dastardly deeds.

  • Twitches (2005) Rated PG – Two teen witches who were separated at birth and were adopted by two different families meet on their 21st birthday and must use their powers to save the world in which they were born, where their birth mother still lives.

  • Tower of Terror (1995) Unrated – A disgraced reporter investigates an abandoned luxury hotel where five people mysteriously disappeared sixty years earlier.
