March is Women’s History Month. On Sunday, March 8th women all over the world celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). The theme for the day is #EachforEqual. This means that we are all responsible for our thoughts and actions – all day, every day. Each one of us can come together to help create a gender-equal world absent of stereotypes, biases, and perceptions of one another. I believe the only way to do this, would be to learn a little more about each other through outlets like interviews.

International Women’s Day Interview:
What is your special skill?
My special skill is writing. I like saying deep thoughts with a small amount of words.
What age group are you in?
I am between 30 and 34 years of age.

What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
My favorite part about being a woman is the ability to use both sides of my brain. Women are like
the greatest multi-taskers.
Do you have any personal or professional insecurities that you think is from being a woman? Why?
I would say people tend to shut women out from running businesses because they think we’re too emotional. Keeping a poker face at all times is super important.
Are there any assumptions about women that you would like to change? Why?
One assumption would be that women are limited to doing girly jobs like fashion but women like
Katie Sowers is changing the narrative. Sowers is the offensive assistant coach for the San
Francisco 49ers, talk about highlighting career opportunities for women!
What do you believe will be the biggest challenge for the generation of women behind you?
Continuing to stand up for your rights is important and as women, we cannot forget that because
there will always be someone who will place a cloud on the things been deserve, whether it’s equal
pay or a job title.
Is there a woman who inspires you? Why?
My mother. She is a hard worker, super determined, kind, supportive, strong and patient. I never
seen her give up on anything.
What world and/or national events have influenced your life?
Honestly, watching Michelle Obama gracefully become the first lady has been so influential. Not
only did she input change in our world but she did it in a positive, non-provocative and poised
manner. She showed that you don't have to play dirty to get your point across.
Where is the furthest place you have traveled to? Why did you go there?
I traveled all over the southern part of the United States with my family, family vacations are
everything to us.
What thing in your life has brought or given you the greatest satisfaction or fulfillment? If you could go back as far as you could, what time would you go to and what would you change?
Graduating from my university was a beautiful accomplishment for me because I struggled in the
first couple of years. It’s true when they say college helps you find yourself. Once I took the opportunity to explore and learn more about me, my journey became easier. It’s one I wouldn’t
trade. I don’t have anything I would change because I don’t like to live in regrets. I believe
everything happens for a reason and it’s up to us to take in the lesson from every situation.
I thank Natonya for participating in this International Women’s Day interview series. It is a pleasure getting to know her through these few questions. Her contribution to this theme shows us that she is so comfortable in the skin she is in. Her fashion sense is something I hope she sticks with for a long while. Look forward to seeing her in a fashion magazine one day.
