March is Women’s History Month. On Sunday, March 8th women all over the world celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). The theme for the day is #EachforEqual. This means that we are all responsible for our thoughts and actions – all day, every day. Each one of us can come together to help create a gender-equal world absent of stereotypes, biases, and perceptions of one another. I believe the only way to do this, would be to learn a little more about each other through outlets like interviews.
Today’s women’s day feature is Tasonya Larue Wornely aka Sunny Larue founder and author of SunnyLarue17.com, The Professional Martini Drinking Blogger. The purpose behind Sunny’s blog, is to bring awareness to mental health. She is a great supporter of so many writers, bloggers and influencers who are bringing a positive voice to their audience.
International Women’s Day Interview:
What is your special skill?
I have a good ear. I am a good listener. Don’t know if that is a special skill. I would like to learn another language [like] Russian.
What age group are you in?
Sunny is over the age of 40 years young.
What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
Identified as a woman. The ability to love unconditionally.
Do you have any personal or professional insecurities that you think is from being a woman? Why?
Vanity, I’m very aware of my looks. I think as women from a young age we are taught to value our looks. Unfortunate because we all have a unique beauty inside and out. It’s insecurity that holds me back.
Are there any assumptions about women that you would like to change? Why?
The assumption that a woman can do it all is ridiculous. The reality is no one can do it all. We’re human it’s okay to fail. It’s okay to be flawed.
What do you believe will be the biggest challenge for the generation of women behind you?
Breaking the stigma that women are too emotional to be equal of our male counterparts. Women have to work harder, longer & smarter to compete. It’s hard to change the stigma of being barefoot & pregnant. We still have a long way to go.
Is there a woman who inspires you? Why?
I’m lucky to have three sisters I look up to and two aunts and cousin champions that inspire me everyday. Their patience and kindness always gets me through tough times. Celebrity wise KT Tunstall is the person I look up to. Her story of courage, strength & toughness inspires me to live a life worth living. If you get a chance check out her story.
What world and/or national events have influenced your life?
I wouldn’t say it’s a national or worldly event, but it was a concert to my favorite band back in May 2018 that inspired to wake up, change my ways & to live. Up to that point my life was in a downward spiral. That concert made me realize I was in a 7 yr depression that was out of control. It maybe little to you but it means a lot.
Where is the furthest place you have traveled to? Why did you go there?
St. Petersburg, Russia – It was the opportunity of a lifetime & I jumped on it. Sydney, Australia – I have family living there I wanted to meet. Winnipeg, Canada – work related. I lived between Winnipeg & Montreal for 2 years.
What thing in your life has brought or given you the greatest satisfaction or fulfillment? If you could go back as far as you could, what time would you go to and what would you change?
Helping others who are struggling. If I could go back & change anything it would be to continue with music. My piano, accordion & guitar lessons. Taking a writing class. Stay fresh in the arts.

Sunny is a great woman and very brave by sharing her struggles with us. I have learned so much about being bipolar from her.
Yes! I absolutely love her and the writing about her journey.
